February.... It's the Best....
February!!! This month would be the most perfect month of the year if it were not for the snow, cold weather, icy roads and school being brutal... all at the same time. Why would this be the best month? These are the reasons why:
1. It was Josh's birthday! Luckily it fell on a Sunday so that I didn't have to study. I had a test the next day, so that was a little stressful. Not to mention that my test subject was STDs (if you don't know what that stands for, that is probably okay, ask your mom about what it means). Sam got me a little cake for my birthday and we had a few neighbors over. We decided to celebrate my birthday the day after. We went to the mall and Sam bought maternity clothes. We went to Outback Steakhouse after courtesy of Samantha's parents (thank you!). Good food, and they even brought out a ice cream dessert with a candle on top. A new tradition started with that... we ate the whole dessert with the candle still lit! That was challenging and fun. And it's true... I am a quarter of a century years old!
2. It was Valentine's day! Sam got flowers (they are still alive!) and candy to sooth those cravings... she is on a kick for Nerds right now. We watched A Bug's Life... Sam fell asleep after 20 minutes.... and that was Valentines Day.
3. 80's nite! This was on the 8th. What a bodacious night! We are on the activities committee for church and threw a killer 80's party. Sam had a tubular outfit and crimped her hair. Sam also cut my hair into a mullet. I drew quite a few stares. I was hoping that I wouldn't get pulled over by a police on the way. We MC'd a 80's trivial pursuit game. Lot's of things happened in the 80's... other than Sam and I being born, the best thing has to be the release of U2's The Joshua Tree in 1987. That album went platinum the day after it was released!
4. Winter Gala! This was a big who-haa for Des Moines University. I guess you could call it a grown up Prom. This was last night. Lots of desserts and dancing. It was fancy, and a live band. We had fun... we are people watchers and watching everybody was entertaining. The picture shows what we wore, and the girl in back of us shows what everyone else wore (or lack there of... lol). We left as soon as the cash bar started making money.
5. IT'S A GIRL!!! Sam is at 20 weeks! This event is the top event of the month! We are so excited, as well as the rest of the family. We found out on Thursday. She is expected to be tall and beautiful. I have decided that locking her in a tower like the fairy tales of old probably isn't that bad of an idea to keep those stinky boys away. The ultrasound was about 40 minutes. Doing this was so much fun, and she was so cute. She would hide her face with her arms acting a little camera shy. She waved at us too and would open her mouth. She is already the cutest thing ever. I have been feeling really excited about this whole event. Everyday I am feeling the Lord's love for us more and more. Why you might ask? I know that the Lord loves this little girl so much and that puts so much responsibility on us as parents. But because of that responsibility, I am feeling the Lord's love and support for me in this calling. I really have a hard time putting the feelings I have about this into words..... suffice to say, we are feeling excited for our future family!
