Disneyland
During our Christmas break we went to California to visit the Bevan side of the family. We had an adventurous few days there. To start off, poor Libby was coming down with a cold the Friday before we left, nothing too bad, just a runny nose. She got worse by the time we got to CA.
We arrived off our flight at 11:20pm and our luggage was nowhere to be found. So Josh spent over an hour talking to the airline trying to figure out where it was. We never got baggage stubs in Des Moines to make it easier, so it took some investigating. Turns out the lady who checked us in put somebody elses baggage papers on our suitcase. Which was in Austin Texas, where we had our layover. All of Josh and my things were in there, tolietres, clothes, presents, shoes, etc. We were lucky that the airline gave us permission to buy things we needed and we would be reimbursed later. Our luggage didn't arrive at my parents house till 4:30am on Tuesday.
Then came our anniversary our first day there, and we spent that in the ER with Libby. Because of our insurance and being out of state visitors that was our only option to try to help Libby to feel better. We didn't have too bad of a wait, I think we were there from around 1pm to after 5pm. Turned out Libby had a bad ear infection in both ears. She was very miserable. The doctor prescribed her some medicine and said we should see improvements in her by Tuesday. Which was good and that happened.
Santa came early to my parents house, we had Christmas on the 23rd. Part of the reason was because our big gift from Santa for the family was a trip to Disneyland! We left the real Christmas morning in order to miss all the hussle and bussle and traffic in southern CA. Worked out great!
We had a three day hopper pass to Disneyland and California Adventure parks. That was the perfect amount of time. None of had ever been to CA Adventures before too. The parks were busy of course, but we all really enjoyed our time. With the package of tickets we had one day that we could go into Disneyland and hour early to opening. So on our last day we arrived around 6:45am and strolled onto to the park with a lot of other people at 7am. It was great, short lines for all the popular rides. We were able to see and ride everything in Fanasty Land, do a few rides in Tomorrow Land, and hit the Matterhorn!
Josh was our designated fast pass runner along with Torie at times. Fast pass is the way to go. Libby and I were of course not able to go on everything, but we went on just about everything. We couldn't ride the rollercoasters (bummer, they're my fav!), Indiana Jones or the Log ride. But we had plenty to do while we waited.
The top rides that my family went on more than once was Space Mountain, The Matterhorn, and Indiana Jones in Disneyland. Also California Screamin (rollercoaster) and The River Rapids in CA Adv. (I was able to go on this one too).
We were able to see some Disney characters and take pictures, but not all. I wish we saw some princess's! :) Libby would have liked that. She did come out leaving with a new favorite character...Pluto! A dog of course. She lit up everytime we saw him strolling around. When we took a picture with him she was constantly blowing him kisses and barking. She also liked Winnie the Pooh and Tigger and would growl when she saw them. She sure loves her animals and their sounds.
Overall it was a great trip and Libby was at a pretty good age to enjoy Disneyland, (17 months). She probably won't remember much, but we could tell she had a good time.

Hooray for another girl! Is Josh feeling a conspiracy going on from the Bevan side of the family? :) Glad to see you are doing so well. We miss you!
It looks like you had loads of fun. I love Libby's red shoes. What a doll! I have the cutest granddaughters!
How does Josh like hangin' with all the woman??!?!
To answer all of your questions... I do feel like something fishy is going on. Especially now that our blog is pink. Being in Disneyland with all those women put me into this reality of what it is going to be like with all girls. But isn't that every man's dream, to be surrounded by beautiful ladies? When it comes to the all girl situation, I have a few great examples to follow; Grandpa Arave, Martyn Bevan, my dad (living with all those sisters) and Aaron Hopkinson. Aaron has proved that when you do finally have a boy, all that awesomeness is really compounded into one fine male specimen (Enoch).
