Steamboat Springs

We had a great break from New York a few days ago.  Josh took his first days off work in over a year.  A much needed vacation for him in the mountains.  I really enjoyed the fresh mountain air and the lack of humidity (even though others thought it was humid).  The girls had a blast spending time in grandma T.'s garden and spending lots of needed time with their cousins Abi and Brooklyn.
One of the nights up in Steamboat the men went on an overnight hike to Gilpin Lake.  They explored and fished while up there.  Josh took some great pictures of all the views with his iphone.

A the boys and grandparents went on a group atv ride and Clarissa and I spent the day at the pool with the girls.  The group had a great start to their day, then ended with a downpour on their way down.  They came home drenched.  To make it better we made it to a yummy restaurant called Freshies for a late lunch.  It was delicious!

Girls enjoying the kiddie pool.  They ended up spending a majority of their time in the big pool by the end of the week.

I got burnt the first day, I didn't think of the higher elevation and the sun was so intense.
Kennedi enjoying her big girl cup and straw at Freshies.
Libby had to use a double straw.
I told Josh they had huge cinnamon rolls, so we ordered one to go.  It was yummy, especially the cream cheese frosting.  Jerry taking a test sample...

They next day Josh and Dan took Clarissa and I for a ride on the ATV's.  We were going to make it short so we could get back for some swimming, but we ended up finding an exciting trail to make our 4-wheeling trip well worth it!

There were so many pretty wild flowers throughout the meadows and mountains.

Up at the lake we rode to.

Part of the crazy trail...it was steeper than this picture gives it credit.
Rinsing off our muddy Chacos...we enjoying getting a little muddy on the trail.  :)
That night we made it to the rodeo.  It was my first one as well as Libby and Kennedi's.  It was so exciting!  We all had fun dressing up and the girls wore their pink cowgirl boots.  Libby and Kennedi enjoyed seeing all the pretty horses and clapping with the crowd.
Our little cowgirl.  I think she would have liked being out there on those horses.  The barrel racers reminded me of when my sister Torie did those races, I think when she was about 10.  I always enjoyed watching her.

The night before Erik and McKay went when it had rained so hard and the dirt was all muddy.  This is one of McKay pics he took from that night.
We were all pretty tuckered out by the end.

Sunday night we took a stroll after dinner and took some family pics.  This is all I have right now.
The girl cousins...Kennedi, Liberty, Abigail, & Brooklyn.  Soon to have the only boy join in next time.  :)

We went through town and this was a favorite store of us all.  F.M. Light and Sons, a great cowboy store with the cutest boots you've ever seen.

These were my favorite, of course I pick the most expensive one.  Josh always says I have expensive taste.  He knew those were the ones I would pick too.  :)
Libby riding the horse out front.  She couldn't smile, I don't think she liked the height.
One of the stores had this beautiful, yet ginormous husky dog.  Kennedi was excited to see it.

We saw some pretty amazing rainbows after all the rainstorms.  You could see where they began and ended.  This one was incredibly bright too.

Thanks everyone for making this such an enjoyable trip for our family.  :)
