Kennedi's 3rd Birthday

Kennedi-boo turned three on Saturday.  We celebrated with a little Hello Kitty themed party with a few of her friends from church.  Hello Kitty was all her idea, not sure why she likes her so much.  At first I had no idea how to go about planning a H.K. party, but everything came together and I think everyone had a fun time.
We started out coloring a H.K. picture  Then made H.K. ears and bow for the girls to wear.  They were meowing like crazy once they had all completed their ears and wore them around.  Then we did a couple of "snack" crafts (Kennedi is all about food).  We made fruit loop, pretzel, and gummy ring necklaces.  Then we made butterflies out of snack sizes baggies filled with fruit loops and colored marshmallows and clipped a clothespin up the middle and finished them off with googly eyes and pipe cleaner antennas.  We then took break and had some lunch...Kennedi chose a few of her favorite snacks.  So it was a conglomerate of random things like mini corn dog muffins (which she really just wanted a hot dog, her favorite lately), chips and salsa, grapes and strawberries with vanilla yogurt, and white chocolate dipped pretzels with one side dipped in pink sprinkles like a H.K. bow.  After eating we played pin the bow on Hello Kitty.  Josh drew a great H.K. head on some butcher paper for me and drew a bow for me to cut out for the girls to pin up.  I made a H.K. ice cream cake and chocolate H.K. cupcakes.  I experimented with making my own fondant for the ice cream cake and it turned out great.  It was so easy and fun!  I might make my kids cakes more often now.  :)
Kennedi was so funny about being the birthday girl and the center of all the attention.  When all eyes were on her she would turn her head down and try to hide away behind her hair.  She didn't like everyone singing happy birthday to her, it was way too much attention for her.  Later that day she did tell us that she really liked her party and was happy her friends came.
A little about K-boo
Kennedi always keeps Josh and I on our toes.  She's always up to something sneaky.  Her biggest habit is hoarding.  She is a collector of sorts.  We always know where Kennedi has been and what she has been in once we find her stash of toys, food, trinkets, etc.  She loads bags full of anything she can find.  And carries them around with her everywhere.
Here are a few of some of her crazy acts to make you laugh:
-We were at a local bike shop buying our bikes a couple weeks ago and I was tending to Parker in his car seat and Josh shouts out Kennedi's name, so I turn around and there she is wondering around with her pants down, bare bum showing.  I asked her what she was doing and she said "I need to go potty!"  I said "well you should probably wait to get into the bathroom before pulling down your pants."
-For some reason she likes to run around the house with just a shirt and panties on...complete with pink cowgirl boots.
-I found her up in her room the other day taste testing a tube of desitin.  She says she wasn't eating it, but the evidence was on her lips and in her teeth.  Luckily I didn't see a number on the tube for poison control or any warnings about eating it.  So I think she's ok, and I know she really didn't get much.
-I gave the girls gum one day, and Kennedi lasted a good chunk of the afternoon with it.  Then I hear Libby shout from upstairs "Kennedi has gum up her nose!"  So I rush upstairs and sure enough there's her gum way up there.  I had to get the tweezers and pull it out.  NASTY!  (this is the second time I've had to use tweezers on her.  She has shoved toilet paper up there too.)
-For a long time Kennedi has never been able to fall asleep any where but her own bed for nap and bed time.  She has recently stopped taking regular naps (unfortunately), so she gets pretty tired and naughty by the end of the day.  We have been taking walks on the rail trail here frequently and she has been falling asleep in the front seat of the double stroller, which doesn't recline.  So she rides along completely out, bobbing her head around because there is nowhere to lay it.  It's kind of sad, but there is nothing I can do.
-One night we had wore her out with everything we had been doing that day and during story time before bed, she laid her head down on Josh's lap.  He was rubbing her head and within seconds she was asleep.  It was so cute and unlike her to fall asleep in that type of situation.
-Last night it was hot as Haiti's when I put the girls to bed.  We have not had to use the A.C. yet this year and so it was still covered up from the winter.  Josh was getting home late because he was on call at the hospital, so he couldn't make sure everything was ok to turn it on.  So we were all sweating just standing still because of the humidity.  So I turned the fan on in the girls room and told them they didn't need a blanket tonight.  Libby says ok, but Kennedi tells me "I'm freezing!  I need ALL my blankets."  There is no reasoning with this girl, so she fell asleep with three blankets on her.  After she was asleep I went in and she was half way sticking out.  She's so silly.
We sure love Kennedi!
