On Saturday we attempted to got to an apple orchard to pick some Honey Crisp apples with our friend the Summers. We had some trouble getting to the orchard we wanted to go to and we were blocked many times by flooded roads. We tried seven different ways to get to this really good orchard, but every time we got closer to getting there we had to find another way.
The flooding has been really bad in NY since hurricane Irene came through two weeks ago. We were hit with a lot of rain at the beginning of last week as well. A few small towns have just been wiped away. We haven't seen flooding like this since we live in Iowa in 2008. We think this here could be worse. Thankfully we are all ok. We were very lucky to have our power stay on, while many many people lost theirs for days. Our friends live about 10 miles from us and lost power for a week. And no flooding or fallen trees near our home.
Anyways, back to our adventure. We eventually decided to look up another orchard and try to get there. We back tracked and found it. They didn't have the Honey Crisp available to pick because that part of the orchard was flooded. So we picked a 5lb bag of McIntosh apples and I plan on attempting to make an apple pie and apple crisp this week. Libby loves little adventures like this. We were glad to have a family outing and see Libby just happy as can be!

Those are great photos! Thanks for sharing. It looks like you had a fun time making family memories.
I thought Iowa roads were bad when flodded! The girls have changed so much. We miss you!
Good job getting out to do things. Crazy that it took so many routes to get to one spot! We are amazed at all the water... where we used to live got flooded SO bad this week. It is tragic and just amazes me. I am so glad that you have been blessed with power and that you are safe. We miss you...
