Grandma T Visits Us in New York

We had a great visit from grandma T a few days ago.  It was her first time visiting us in New York and meeting Parker.  We all had a great time and ate some good food.
After picking up Libby from school one day we took grandma T to our little library and got a few children's books to read with her.
The girls played lots of games with her.
On Friday we had a great day visiting Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde Park, NY.  It's one of my favorite places out here.  The home is large, yet not one of the biggest the Vanderbilt family has built around the country.  The way the Vanderbilt family lived is a lot like the show Downton Abbey.  Here are a few of my favorite pics, courtesy of Marie.
 Kitchen
 Louise Vanderbilt's room
Entry way, it's hard to see how grand it really is here.
Men's Parlor room  (Man Cave)
 Women's parlor room.
Drawing room.  We learned that this room got it's name because it was the last room all the guests would meet before "withdrawing" to bed.
 Another side of drawing room.
Servants dining room.

We also went down the road from the mansion and had lunch at the Culinary Institute of America and had a tour of part of the campus.
We ate at the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe...soooooo gooooood!!!!
A few of their delicious desserts...we got a couple to try of course.
Marie had some yummy creamy macaroni and cheese with these roasted carrots.  Kennedi and Libby shared a Cinnamon raisin bagel, and next to the bagel is my dessert a peanut butter mousse with banana butter and shortbread cookie crumbles.
Josh ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a green salad.  The chicken was so tender and juicy.
I ordered a bbq pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast with grits and bacon.
 Josh's carrot cake.
Marie's Tahitian vanilla bean rice pudding.
Libby ready for her big Oreo cookie.  No pic sorry.
Parker waiting patiently waiting for his lunch.
Front of the main building where classes take place.  All the hallways are beautiful brick walls, with goreous archways.  Marie and I said it reminds us of Hogwarts.  We were able to see a couple of classes and kitchens working on making delicious food for the restaurants, there are four others besides the cafe.  We were lucky to be able to sample some fresh rolls as we were strolling the the bread making halls.  We will definitely be going back before we move.

We had one warm day and went for a walk on the Hudson bridge walkway.  It's an old railroad bridge reconstructed into a walkway for pedestrians.

The girls and I took Marie to our favorite little local store Bop to Tottom.  They have really cute jewelery and scarves.  The girls liked the hats and little toy section best.
Grandma brought water colors for the girls.  They really enjoyed painting with grandma.

On Marie's last night in town we took her to our favorite restaurant the Red Brick Tavern.
These are my huge Nachos I got.  Of course we didn't finish them, but they were pretty good heated up in the oven the next day.
 Maries Chicken burger and fries.
 Maries Mississippi Mud Pie Brulee
I ordered this...Hazlenut ice cream with a hard chocolate shell drizzled with hazlenut sauce.
Saying good bye to grandma T in there cute lime green outfits we found at Target.

Aw, that last pic is so cute.
Parker is so handsome, Sam! It's so cute to see the girls with him.
They are getting too big! Their personalities are so fun.
You just have an adorable family. That's all there is to it.
