Clerkship programs are set up across the country and act as a extended campus away from Des Moines University. Even though we pay tution to Des Moines University, Josh will not be there for any of the 4th year and all grades will be given from each of the clerkships. Each clerkship program also has a residency program at that hospital. Not only do you gain an education at these programs, but you also display yourself to the residencies. This process helps both the student and residecny program decide if you are a good fit for post-graduate training (for us, 2011-2014). We carefully considered each of the clerkship locations offered and applied to the clerkships that we believe will give Josh the best training during residency with maximum benifits offered to him and our family. After lots of research, prayers, applications and careful consideration to each of the programs, we are finally done with the application and acceptance process and know where Josh will be during his 4th year of medical school.
June 2010--> Florida Hospital East Orlando (Florida)
July 2010--> Intermountain Medical Center & DVA Salt Lake City
August 2010--> Northern Colorado Medical Center(Greeley, CO)
September 2010--> Fransican Health System/St. Francis Hospital (Federal Way, WA)
Oct 2010-Jan 2011--> DVA New Mexico Health System (Albuquerque, NM)
We still have to do some scheduling with some Private Practice doctors, probably in Montrose Colorado where Josh's family lives for Feb-April 2011.

Congratulations! I bet you feel such a relief knowing where you are going. Hooray for Florida!! We are moving to Naples in January. I plan on going to Orlando(for disneyworld of course) a couple times a month if you need me to check out anything let me know. I'm sure you already know this but I called the bishop in that area and he gave me numbers of members and great ideas for places to live.
Holy cow Thuns! That is awesome and exciting, congrats! So one month in each place then? That will be interesting! I hope everything goes smoothly! I think Josh will do great in all of this. I will have to stop by and say Hi when you're in Utah! Congrats again and take care!
Oh my goodness! This is so cool. But where are you and Libby going to pick up and move every month? or stay somewhere a little more permanent?
Mark your calendars and get moved in time because the Hopkinsons are spending the first weekend of October 2010 in Albequerque for the balloon festival. You better meet us there! And plan a trip over to Flag (4hrs). We're counting on it! Yipee!@
Congrats on all of those random locations = future!!!! Hooray!!!! I wish we had an extra room - we might by then, and we'd love to house Josh here in SLC. Keep us posted - we'll see what we can do for ya!!!!
