West Point

This post is a little behind.  I have been frustrated with blogger so I have been putting this off.  We took a drive down to West point a couple of weekends ago on a beautiful fall day.  We went to the museum which was full of artifacts, weapons and history from the beginning of warfare in the world to now and a history of West point.  I really enjoyed reading through all the information about the world wars.  That part of history is my favorite.  The girls were a little more fast pace though and I could only get through a few.  It's really amazing how the times have changed.

This is the museum, it's a great old building.

Our little cowgirl...she's wearing her pink boots and vest.

This is one of Hitlers pistols that an American soldier found in Germany.

Casing of atomic bomb.

Posing with a tank.

My favorite!  World war 2 Jeep.

Original painting of George Washington.

View of the Hudson river.
Josh needed to be at stake youth activity that night so we all headed to the stake center together.  We live about 45 away from the stake center on a toll road.  So we tried to kill two birds with one stone by going to West point and the activity on the same day.  So the girls and I retreated to a classroom to change into jammies and eat dinner, while Josh chaperoned the youth dance.

When it was about time to leave, Josh came and got us so the girls could join the dance for a few minutes.  Kennedi could not take her eyes off the disco ball and lights and Libby danced with Josh.  Then our Bishop took the girls to the snack table so Josh and I could dance to one slow song.  :)

I love the last photo of the girls in their pjs. It just reminds me of when we would have to do things like that while we were in NY. I know it can make for some really long days. Tolls are the worst!!! Just do what we did and always forget your cash :) Then you'll know the true nature of your other neighborly drivers.
